Course Description:
The Barista Skills Intermediate course is designed for competent baristas or home enthusiasts who want to deeper their knowledge into the world of coffee beyond the basic cup or those looking to step into the coffee industry. In this course, students will learn about the affects of origins, varieties and processing methods on the taste of coffee with hands-on sensory analysis using the standard methods of tasting in the coffee industry.
Students will also learn about the affects of changing parameters for brew recipes to craft the perfect espresso base and how to troubleshoot poor espresso extraction. The course also covers how to master milk steaming to create the perfect microfoam for your milk-based drinks and how to pour advanced latte art designs.
Successful candidates should be able to dial in a brew recipe, have a basic understanding of coffee processing methods and its affects on taste of coffee, as well as understand the basic requirements for customer service and maintenance.

- Sensory Analysis: Deepen your understanding of coffee’s flavor profile through its variety, origin, and processing with a sensory analysis using the industry standard methods.
- Espresso Extraction: Hone your skills in espresso extraction through hands-on practice of adjusting coffee to different brew recipes and gain a deeper understanding
