Our TY Barista Skills is the perfect hands-on course for Transition Year students looking to gain experience in the world of coffee, whether it’s to become a barista or add to their skill set. Our course offers a practical approach that focuses on practicing the preparation of drinks on the café menu and learning how to work as part of a team in a café setting and creating an efficient workflow and good habits. This course is limited to between 4-6 students to enhance the experience of the day.
This course is suitable for TY/Secondary School students/Young Adults only.

Course content:

Introduction to coffee and its origins.

Coffee machine, grinder, and other equipment and accessories in the café.

Tamping techniques & espresso extraction, learning how to create a well extracted espresso and how to identify a bad extraction.

Creating and presenting espresso-based drinks - espresso, long black, and americano.

Introduction to milk steaming techniques learning how to create beautiful milk texture with regular milk and alternative milk.

Introduction to basic latte art.

Creating milk-based drinks menu, for sit-in and takeaway.

Cleaning of coffee machine and equipment.
The course starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. There is a lunch break around 12.30pm.
